Understanding the Symptoms of Adult ADHD

Adult ADHD may look different than childhood ADHD. Instead of visible hyperactivity, adults often experience persistent mental restlessness, impulsivity, disorganization, forgetfulness, difficulty completing tasks, rapid shifts in focus, or emotional sensitivity. These symptoms can lead to missed deadlines, strained relationships, or feeling “behind” in life.

Our experienced clinicians conduct a thorough evaluation to understand your history, symptom patterns, daily functioning, and any co-existing conditions such as anxiety, depression, or chronic stress.

Personalized Adult ADHD Treatment Plans at Lumos

We create individualized treatment plans that meet your goals, lifestyle, and neurobiology. Treatment may include medication management, therapy for executive function skills, cognitive-behavioral strategies, emotional regulation support, structured planning routines, ADHD coaching, and lifestyle modifications that strengthen daily performance.

Our goal is not just symptom reduction — but empowering you to function confidently in work, home, and relationships.

Continued Support for Focus, Routine, and Daily Life with Lumos

ADHD is not something you simply “grow out of,” and effective care is ongoing and adaptive. We provide follow-up appointments, treatment monitoring, and real-world skill-building to help you maintain progress and prevent burnout. Over time, many adults report improved clarity, better organization, stronger emotional balance, and higher confidence in their abilities.

Do I have to take medication?

Medication can be very effective for some adults, but it’s not the only option. We offer behavioral strategies, therapy, and lifestyle coaching that work alongside or instead of medication.

Dr. Maitra is awesome! I can't say enough about her. She cares about her patients and has a great team of co-workers. Swati goes above and beyond and handles extra tasks for me. More than recommended for anyone who wants a great professional at an accommodating clinic with a lovely team of staff members. Thanks for everything, guys!

I didn't want to consult a psychiatrist because my lifestyle demanded mental health therapy. I thought I could do it all, handle it all, and be the superwoman everyone thought I was and my family expected of me...anxiety and depression took over my life and I tried everything to rise above it. In my 20s, I was diagnosed with ADHD. Left untreated, the symptoms tormented my life and hurt people I loved. Dr. Maitra is compassionate and the best psychiatrist around. She helped me understand I had a biological imbalance, not just a mental illness. She gave me the strength to share my journey without shame. Dr. Maitra has also been helping me with other private concerns, so I'm confident and hopeful I can overcome these too. Her office is gorgeous and her team handles the important aspects! I would recommend her to anyone who needs a second or third opportunity, is hesitant about a diagnosis, fears judgment, or has lost hope!

She's humble and kind. If you trust her, she can change your life too!
