Clinical Major Depressive Disorder treatment

What Is Major Depressive Disorder?

Clinical MDD is diagnosed when depressive symptoms last at least two weeks and significantly impact daily life. Symptoms can vary in intensity and may come and go, but they are persistent and often difficult to manage without professional support.

Major Depressive Disorder Symptoms

You may be experiencing Major Depressive Disorder if you notice:

  • Ongoing feelings of sadness, emptiness, or hopelessness
  • Loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed
  • Low energy or constant fatigue
  • Changes in sleep patterns, including insomnia or oversleeping
  • Appetite or weight changes
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, or self-blame
  • Irritability or emotional numbness
  • Thoughts of self-harm or feeling that life is not worth living

Because depression can overlap with other mental health or medical conditions, an accurate diagnosis is essential.

Lumos Psychiatric Reviews

Dr. Maitra is awesome! I can't say enough about her. She cares about her patients and has a great team of co-workers. Swati goes above and beyond and handles extra tasks for me. More than recommended for anyone who wants a great professional at an accommodating clinic with a lovely team of staff members. Thanks for everything, guys!

I didn't want to consult a psychiatrist because my lifestyle demanded mental health therapy. I thought I could do it all, handle it all, and be the superwoman everyone thought I was and my family expected of me...anxiety and depression took over my life and I tried everything to rise above it. In my 20s, I was diagnosed with ADHD. Left untreated, the symptoms tormented my life and hurt people I loved. Dr. Maitra is compassionate and the best psychiatrist around. She helped me understand I had a biological imbalance, not just a mental illness. She gave me the strength to share my journey without shame. Dr. Maitra has also been helping me with other private concerns, so I'm confident and hopeful I can overcome these too. Her office is gorgeous and her team handles the important aspects! I would recommend her to anyone who needs a second or third opportunity, is hesitant about a diagnosis, fears judgment, or has lost hope!

She's humble and kind. If you trust her, she can change your life too!

Finding the right doctor has been one of the hardest journeys I’ve ever been on — but Lumos Psychiatric has been nothing short of heaven sent.
Dr. Maitra is truly one of a kind. Every time I leave her office, it’s like someone turned down the volume on all the noise in my head. That quiet confidence of I got this — she gives me that. Every single time. I don’t know how she does it, but she does.
And the staff? I genuinely can’t say enough. Manisha, you are an absolute gem.
Places like this remind you that the right support truly exists.
