What are the Treatment Options for Depression?

At Lumos Psychiatric, we offer a comprehensive approach to depression treatment, incorporating a variety of evidence-based strategies tailored to your individual needs:

Therapy for Depression: Our therapists specialize in techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), which are effective in managing depressive symptoms and improving overall well-being. Through one-on-one therapy sessions, individuals are provided with a safe and supportive environment to explore their emotions, identify negative thought patterns, and develop coping strategies to navigate life’s challenges.

Medication Management: In conjunction with therapy, medication may be prescribed to alleviate symptoms and restore balance. Our experienced psychiatrists will work closely with you to find the most suitable medication regimen based on your unique symptoms and medical history. From selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) to serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) and other antidepressants, we ensure that your medication plan is carefully monitored and adjusted to optimize treatment outcomes.

Supportive Services: We provide various supportive services, including telepsychiatry appointments, to ensure accessibility and continuity of care. Additionally, we offer support groups for individuals living with depression, providing a safe and understanding space for sharing experiences and coping strategies. These groups foster a sense of community and connection, reducing feelings of isolation and promoting emotional healing.

Dr. Maitra is awesome! I can't say enough about her. She cares about her patients and has a great team of co-workers. Swati goes above and beyond and handles extra tasks for me. More than recommended for anyone who wants a great professional at an accommodating clinic with a lovely team of staff members. Thanks for everything, guys!

I didn't want to consult a psychiatrist because my lifestyle demanded mental health therapy. I thought I could do it all, handle it all, and be the superwoman everyone thought I was and my family expected of me...anxiety and depression took over my life and I tried everything to rise above it. In my 20s, I was diagnosed with ADHD. Left untreated, the symptoms tormented my life and hurt people I loved. Dr. Maitra is compassionate and the best psychiatrist around. She helped me understand I had a biological imbalance, not just a mental illness. She gave me the strength to share my journey without shame. Dr. Maitra has also been helping me with other private concerns, so I'm confident and hopeful I can overcome these too. Her office is gorgeous and her team handles the important aspects! I would recommend her to anyone who needs a second or third opportunity, is hesitant about a diagnosis, fears judgment, or has lost hope!

She's humble and kind. If you trust her, she can change your life too!

Dr. Maitra saved my life. She doesn't just sit with you for 15 minutes and send you on your way. She cares, she listens and she prescribes accordingly. Her staff was always responsive and caring. When I moved out of state she even helped me get set up with a new psychiatrist. I'm eternally grateful for Dr. Maitra and her staff.
Dr. Maitra is a rare type of doctor. She takes extra time with each of her patients. Although this sometimes means waiting a bit more for your appointment, it ensures adequate time is given to address your issues. Dr. Maitra along with her staff are very friendly and accommodating. They provide snacks and water for while waiting in the lobby. The overall atmosphere in her clinic is that of a "mom and pop shop". The staff are respectful and yet very personable. I cannot recommend her services enough.
I highly recommend this psychiatric service to anyone looking for an educated MD who actually cares about her clients and makes sure they are taken care of. Dr Maitra is truly one of a kind and my family is very thankful that we found her after wasting thousands of dollars with other psychiatric firms who only take your money and don’t actually care about their patients. I searched high and low throughout the bay area and Lumos and Dr Maitra are by far the best service I have found. You will not be disappointed if you are generally looking for help and a Doctor who actually cares about your health and wellbeing! The staff here are also extremely responsive and helpful and will never leave you out in the cold in a time of need. So glad I found Lumos and Dr Maitra!

I found Dr Maitra and her wonderful staff during the pandemic. She was one of the very few doctors who responded to my many emails. Dr. Maitra is one of a kind! She is compassionate, genuinely cares about her patients, and willing to meet them where they are to help them get well.
