Manic Episode Treatment in San Jose & Los Gatos, CA
Expert Manic Episode Psychiatrist in San Jose & Los Gatos, CA
Manic episodes can be overwhelming, disruptive, and confusing for both the individual experiencing them and the people around them. During a manic episode, mood, energy, and activity levels may become intensely elevated or unpredictable. While mania is commonly associated with bipolar disorder, every person’s experience is different, and symptoms can vary in intensity. At Lumos, we offer specialized manic episode treatment in San Jose and Los Gatos, CA, providing compassionate, stabilizing care to help you regain emotional balance and daily stability.
Understanding Manic Episodes and Their Impact
A manic episode may feel euphoric, energized, confident, or unusually driven. However, this increased energy can also lead to racing thoughts, rapid speech, impulsive decisions, disrupted sleep, irritability, and difficulty slowing down. Some individuals may feel invincible or take risks they normally wouldn’t. Others may feel overwhelmed, overstimulated, or emotionally reactive. Without treatment, mania can lead to strained relationships, financial issues, job disruption, or physical exhaustion.
Our clinicians help you understand what triggers your manic symptoms, how mania affects your daily life, and how your brain responds during elevated mood states. Recognizing these patterns is the foundation for effective treatment and long-term mood stability.
Personalized Treatment Plans for Manic Episodes
At Lumos, we develop individualized treatment plans based on your symptoms, history, and goals. Treatment may include mood-stabilizing medications, medication adjustments, supportive psychotherapy, sleep and routine regulation strategies, emotional coping skills, and wellness planning. Our approach prioritizes safety, clarity, and stabilization, helping you reduce the intensity and frequency of manic episodes over time.
Therapy focuses on understanding early warning signs, managing racing thoughts, improving emotional regulation, addressing stress triggers, and building grounding and pacing techniques that support your nervous system. Medication management supports mood stability and prevents mood cycling.
Ongoing Support for Mood Stability and Daily Life
Bipolar disorder is a lifelong condition, and effective treatment continues beyond the immediate stabilization of a manic episode. Our care model includes regular check-ins, medication monitoring, and skill-building sessions to help you maintain routines, sleep, and emotional balance. With consistent support, many individuals experience meaningful stability and a renewed sense of confidence in their lives and relationships. Lumos Psychiatric Reviews
Dr. Maitra is awesome! I can't say enough about her. She cares about her patients and has a great team of co-workers. Swati goes above and beyond and handles extra tasks for me. I didn't want to consult a psychiatrist because my lifestyle demanded mental health therapy. I thought I could do it all, handle it all, and be the superwoman everyone thought I was and my family expected of me...anxiety and depression took over my life and I tried everything to rise above it. In my 20s, I was diagnosed with ADHD. Left untreated, the symptoms tormented my life and hurt people I loved. Dr. Maitra is compassionate and the best psychiatrist around. She helped me understand I had a biological imbalance, not just a mental illness. She gave me the strength to share my journey without shame. Dr. Maitra has also been helping me with other private concerns, so I'm confident and hopeful I can overcome these too. Her office is gorgeous and her team handles the important aspects! I would recommend her to anyone who needs a second or third opportunity, is hesitant about a diagnosis, fears judgment, or has lost hope!
She's humble and kind. If you trust her, she can change your life too!
